About us
Muziekschool Robin started as a place where I (Robin) gave drum lessons at the NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam North. When I moved to Amsterdam North in 2015, I started teaching from my container at the NDSM Treehouse with a handful of students. Teaching had always been something I wanted to do. From the age of 18, I started teaching at Drumschool Voorburg, and I still get an incredible amount of enjoyment out of it.

Drumschool Robin grew out of those first lessons. In 2022, we moved to a cool spot in an old garage on Chrysantenstraat. Here, the drum school grew into a place where more than 100 drummers take lessons weekly. As a result, the school also has multiple teachers. Concerts by various artists were also regularly performed here, and students and people from the neighborhood could enjoy them.
After this location was sold by the owner, we moved with great enthusiasm to the Sacraments Church in Tuindorp Oostzaan.
In 2025, a second location was added. Len and Sjoerd, the founders of the Guitar Factory, Vocal Factory, and Piano Factory in Utrecht, decided to retire and asked me to take over the schools. Since we had already collaborated extensively, this was a logical step. Since then, the Utrecht classes have also operated under the name Muziekschool Robin, and we are working towards one cohesive school across two. locations.

The JoyJoyJoy Basilika is not just any teaching space. It is a beautiful old church in Amsterdam North where music truly comes to life. Here, in addition to drum lessons, we also offer singing and guitar lens. But the very best part of music is making it with others. That is why it is our ambition to offer band lessons, so that students can play and grow together. In the future, we also want to offer music production for anyone who wants to learn how to make music with the computer.
